Our Beyond Rankings Community is growing and we are thrilled to announce our second webinar in the series: Academic Excellence Initiatives (AEIs). Over the last two decades, many countries have launched and implemented initiatives aimed at providing targeted support for a limited number of universities to improve their international standing and global visibility. In many cases, these initiatives were driven by getting to the top of global university rankings. With rare exceptions, this was not achieved. What is the impact then?

The discussion will be led by our head of research, Dr. Maria Yudkevich, who is an associate professor at the University of Haifa and an associated fellow of the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College. This webinar will be moderated by Dr. Alexandra Borissova Saleh, E-Quadrat’s senior expert in science communication and marketing.

Together with Maria, we will identify and discuss the whole range of effects of academic excellence initiatives and their impact on participating institutions and their national higher education systems in general as well as lessons that could be learnt for the future.
